Scottsdale may be the best twilight market in Arizona. The McDowell Mountains turn pink and then deep blue after sunset, desert landscaping and architectural lighting are built into most higher-end homes, and resort-style backyards look their best lit. On a luxury listing, the twilight exterior is usually the image buyers remember, and often the one they click.

Scottsdale homes that suit twilight

  • North Scottsdale estates in Silverleaf, Desert Mountain, Troon North and Desert Highlands, where the home, the landscape lighting and the mountains all come together at dusk.
  • Golf course homes in Grayhawk, Troon and Gainey Ranch, where the fairway frames the lit house.
  • Resort-style backyards with lit pools, fire features and outdoor kitchens anywhere in the city.
  • Desert contemporary architecture, whose glass and clean lines glow from inside after sunset.

Twilight is less useful on a home with little exterior lighting or a plain facade. There, a virtual twilight, $50 for 5 photos, often does the job.

How the shoot works

Twilight is its own visit, timed to the short window when the sky and the home's lights are in balance. We start about 15 minutes before sunset and shoot through dusk, typically 20 to 30 minutes after the sun drops, covering the front exterior, the backyard and pool, and any mountain or golf view. If you book photos and twilight on the same day, we schedule the photo shoot for late afternoon so twilight follows straight on.

What to prepare

Every light on, inside and out, including pool, spa, landscape and fire features, all tested before we arrive. Blinds open on rooms that face the camera, cars and bins moved, and the pool clean and still.

Pricing and pairing

Twilight photography starts at $200 added to a photo shoot ($285 on its own), priced by season, delivered the next business morning. On estate-level listings it pairs with twilight drone, priced by season, which shows the lit home against the mountains from above, and with our luxury photography packages, where every image is hand-finished.

Frequently asked questions

What if the weather is bad at sunset?

We reschedule at no charge. A cloudy or windy dusk isn't worth photographing, especially for a luxury listing.

Does twilight work for Old Town condos?

Sometimes, when the unit or building has a view or a lit terrace. For most condos, a virtual twilight is the better value.

Can I get twilight and luxury photography together?

Yes. On luxury listings we plan twilight into the shoot schedule and hand-finish those images with the rest of the gallery.
