If you are an architect, designer, contractor, or facilities manager, you know the pain of as-built documentation. Someone has to visit the site, measure every room by hand, sketch the layout, and then redraw everything in CAD. It takes hours on site and more hours at the desk, and one missed measurement means a return trip.

There is a faster path. A single lidar scan with the iGuide PLANIX system captures the entire property in minutes and produces professional CAD files without anyone touching a tape measure.

What file formats can you get?

iGuide exports floor plan data in the formats professionals actually work in. DWG files open natively in AutoCAD and most CAD platforms. RVT files bring the geometry directly into Revit for BIM workflows. SVG and PDF cover presentation and markup needs, and ESX files integrate with Verisk Xactimate for insurance estimating. You are not getting a screenshot of a floor plan. You are getting editable, layered drawing files built from lidar measurement data.

How accurate is scan-based CAD?

The iGuide PLANIX camera uses time-of-flight lidar with distance measurement accuracy of 99.5% or better on floor plans and square footage accuracy of 99% or better. In practical terms, wall-to-wall measurements are typically within a centimeter. That level of precision exceeds residential and commercial industry standards and holds up for space planning, renovation design, permitting support documents, and lease square footage verification.

The workflow, start to finish

First, RevealBuilt scans the property. A 2,500 square foot space takes about 15 minutes, and larger commercial spaces scale efficiently because the operator simply walks the space with the camera. Second, iGuide processes the lidar data into floor plans, room measurements, and a full 3D virtual tour automatically. Third, you receive your deliverables: tours and standard floor plans arrive next business day, with CAD files following based on the drafting scope.

As a bonus, every project includes the 3D virtual tour at no extra charge, so your team can virtually revisit the site anytime instead of driving back to check a detail. Teams using this workflow report starting projects dramatically faster and eliminating most return site visits.

What it costs

Scans and CAD deliverables with DWG or RVT files are handled and quoted by our sister studio RevealBuilt, which handles all documentation-grade capture. Volume pricing is available for multi-property portfolios and repeat commercial work. To discuss a project, contact RevealBuilt.
